Late Mahesh Chandra Bhattacharjee was born at Talsahar under Brahman Baria Sub-division of erstwhile East Pakistan in 1855. He was a pious and benevolent person as well as social reformer in the field of advancement of school education to boys and girls side by side to make them self dependent on day to day essential routine works in life. In order to achieve the goal, Late Mahesh Chandra Bhattacharjee had established a big educational complex in Comilla town for boys and girls along with separate hostel for boys as Rammala Chattrabus and for girls as Nivedita Chattri Nibash with provision for free boarding and lodging including free tuition fees for poor students. Comilla Iswar Pathsala High School was established in that complex in 1914 after the name of his late father Iswar Das Bhattacharjee (Tarka sidhanta).
Iswar Pathsala, Jackson Gate, Agartala:
The alumni of lswar Pathsala, residing in Tripura State, once arranged a meeting of alumni at Agartala and formed a society, name and style Comilla Iswar Pathsala Praktan Chattra-chattri Samiti in 1989. In the first meeting of the society, it was decided to establish one Nursery School under the name of “Iswar Pathsala” at Agartala town and for that they approached the State Govt. to provide a suitable khasland free of charges for construction of the school building. The municipal authority of Agartala hadkindly allotted a small plot of land measuring 1320 sq.ft. near Maharani Tulshibati Govt. Girls HS(+2) School at Agartala where a semi-permanent building was constructed with required amenities. The Nursery School had started functioning with effect from 20/11/92 with Pre-Nursery and Nursery classes. Simultaneously, the building at Jackson Gate is being utilized as City Office of Iswar Pathsala with future plan of opening a museum on Late Mahesh Chandra Bhattacharjee. But, after notice from Mayor, Agartala Municipal Corporation dated…Iswar Pathsala was demolished in commitment of another provision of same land/room. We are till now awaiting for official notification regarding this issue.
Iswar Pathsala English Medium School, Collegetilla, Agartala:
Subsequently the land measuring 0.79 acres has been allotted at Collegetilla complex, at the back side of MBB College complex and handed over the possession of the land to Iswar Pathsala English Medium School which has been functioning with wider activities in the newly allotted land with effect from 10/6/1996 after construction of 2(two) buildings in that premises. One building was constructed by O.N.G.C local authority under Corporate’s Social Responsibilities Scheme and the other with the help of MP LAD fund from the then M.P Late Khagen Das, Recognition of the state Govt. for functioning of the school up-to class V Standard is accorded in February, 2001 .But recoding of the khash lands provided and handed over at Collegetilla Complex, Agartala in favour of Iswar Pathsala English Medium School is awaited.
Presently, Iswar Pathsala English Medium School, Agartala is functioning with Nursery, KG-I, KG-II, and Class I to Class V with total strength of 57 students. There are 1(one) Principal, 8(eight) Assistant Teachers and 4(four) Group D staff in the school.
